The AirPods Pro was launched in October 2019 and since then Apple released several updates to improve the earbuds even further. With the arrival of iOS 14, for example, the option Spatial audio was added, which makes surround sound possible for movies and videos. There are probably more options that you haven’t heard of before. We give some tips for your AirPods Pro.
1. Noise reduction and transparency mode
In contrast to the first AirPods, the AirPods Pro has a noise canceling function, so that annoying ambient noise cannot be heard or is only heard to a limited extent. But there is also a transparency mode, which allows you to hear outside sounds. This can be useful if, for example, you get on a bicycle and want to continue to hear the traffic around you. You can switch between the different modes by pressing and holding the pressure sensor until you hear a sound.
Did you know that you can also enable the noise cancellation for one earpiece? To do this, go to the settings on your iPhone or iPad, tap Accessibility and then Noise Cancellation for one AirPod . You can also easily switch between the different modes via your Apple Watch , by tapping the AirPlay icon.

2. Fit test
If the earplugs are not completely comfortable, you can opt for smaller or larger ear pads. These come standard with the AirPods Pro. According to Apple, it is important for the sound quality and noise reduction that you use the right fit. To find out, you can take a fit test. Go to the settings on your iPad or iPhone and tap Bluetooth . Tap the info button next to the AirPods in the device list and choose Fit Test . After the test you will see whether the earplugs fit your ears sufficiently.
With the Fit Test you can see which ear cushions best fit your ears.
3. Make phone calls and listen to music together
You can listen to music together via the Share audio option.
It is possible to share the AirPods Pro with someone to listen to music together or to have a phone call. Although your earbuds contain two microphones, you can only use one at a time. You can switch between active microphones yourself by pressing the info icon again at Bluetooth . Under Microphone you will find the option to assign the microphone to one of the two earbuds.
If you want to listen to music with a friend, you can use the Share audio option . This makes it possible to connect two AirPod Pro earbuds to one phone, so you can listen to the same music together. This also works with wireless Beats headphones. The Share audio option can be found by pressing the AirPlay symbol on your phone or iPad, which you can find in the control panel, lock screen or in your Spotify app, for example .
4. Check battery life
If you want to know if your AirPods Pro earbuds and the accompanying charging case are almost empty, you can open your charging case with the AirPods Pro in it while you have your iPhone or iPad unlocked. You will then see an animation showing how full (or empty) your earbuds and charging case are at that moment.
